Battle of Mansfield/Pleasant Hill

The smell of spent gun powder.  The bugler plays "Reveille." Rows of canvas tents standing in silent
tribute to those soldiers of long ago.  Deafening cannon fire.  Soldiers step in rhythm of to fife and drum.
These are the sights and sounds that crowds have watched and listened to in awe as Confederate and
Union Soldiers each April - reenact the battles held during the Red River Campaign.

Hundreds of re-enactors from a cross-section of America participate each year in
the "living history" event.  Full-scale Civil War cannons and dozens of Cavalry troopers add
to the excitement of the battle.  Each year the re-enactment offers hundreds of spectators
a view of Living History.  The weekend's events are a great boost to the local economy.
