Albert Ray Lewis, born in Mansfield on October, 6, 1960, had a 16-year career playing pro ball for teams such as the Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, and Los Angeles Raiders. 

Sammy Joe Odom, moved to Mansfield in 1971, played for the Houston Oilers in 1964.  

Bobby Simon, born in Mansfield in 1952, went to Grambling, played for the Houston Oilers.

Charles Johnson, born in Mansfield in 1956, attended
Grambling State University and played for the San Francisco 49ers.

Quarterback Mack Charles “MC” Reynolds, born in Mansfield in 1935, 
played for the Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders and Washington Redskins.

Floyd Turner, born 1966, a former New Orleans Saints, attended Mansfield High School.  

Hilton Crawford, born in 1945 in Converse, attended DeSoto High School,
played for San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears, and Buffalo Bills.

Fred Collins, played pro ball for the San Diego Chargers.

Ed Jackson, now a coach at La Tech, played for the Oakland Raiders

Fakhir Brown, grew up in Mansfield, and currently plays pro ball for the St. Louis Rams.

Mansfield and played for the Chicago Bulls, New Jersey Nets, and Los Angeles Lakers.
Baseball’s famous Vida Blue pitched for Oakland, San Francisco, or Kansas City Royals.

Baseball's famous Jesse James Hudson, born in 1948 in Mansfield, pitched for the New York Mets.
O.C. Smith, born in Mansfield in 1932, sold over a million records of his
R&B, Pop, Jazz and Soul recordings like “Little Green Apples”.

Sidney Maiden born in Mansfield in 1923, a blues musician and harmonica player
made his mark in music in the 40's traveling with famous guitarist K.C. Douglas.

The film The Great Debaters was partially shot in Mansfield and released on December 25, 2007. The story line involves a 1930s debate team from Marshall, Texas.  The downtown scenes of Marshall, however, were actually shot on location in downtown Mansfield. The film stars Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker and was nominated for a Golden Globe award in 2008.
