The Mansfield Fire Department works as a service to the citizens of the City.  There are many aspects of responsibility for the Fire Department.  The original task of any Fire Department has been controlling and extinguishing hostile fires. Since the first Fire Department was organized in Mansfield in 1874, the roles and responsibilities of the departments have continued to evolve.
