City Attorney

Attorney Johnson has been practicing law in DeSoto Parish for over 17 years.
Currently, Johnson is the DeSoto Parish District Attorney for the 42nd Judicial District.
The City Attorney attends all regular meetings of the governing body and, upon
request, special meetings of the governing body and when required, prepares
written opinions on all legal questions submitted to him by the governing body
or City Clerk.

The City Attorney, directly appointed by the City Council, is responsible for
administration of all legal affairs of the City.

 The City Attorney is responsible for:

  • Representing the City in litigation, administrative hearings, and other legal matters
  • Preparing or reviewing all ordinances, contracts and other legal documents
  • Rendering legal advice and opinions to the City Council
